Education Support Base The ESB was initially established to maintain the education of pupil as an alternative to fixed term exclusion. This continues to be the main focus. In addition pupils returning from fixed term exclusion now re-integrate through the base into mainstream lessons. Lower school pupils focus on the core subjects of English, Maths, and Science, with additional subjects of ICT and PSHCE each day. Upper school pupils as far as possible maintain their normal timetable thus maintaining course work commitments. Whilst working in the ESB pupils are encouraged to work independently in a more structured educational environment. Any pupils who for medical reasons find difficulty moving around the school may also use the ESB as a more sheltered environment, working to their normal timetable. As their health improves they will reintegrate back into mainstream lessons.
